Bright ICT and Unbounded Employment: Typology of Crowdworkers and Their Lived and Envisaged Career Trajectory in Nigeria
A typology of crowdworkers and their lived and envisaged career trajectories in Nigeria.
Abstract
This qualitative study examines the lived and envisaged career trajectories of crowdworkers in Nigeria and develops a typology of crowdworkers. It shows how digital work can be understood through workers’ changing orientations to employment and career development rather than only through the tasks they perform.
Key findings
The study identifies distinct types of crowdworkers and patterns of career progression, showing that workers’ experiences of digital labour are differentiated rather than uniform.
