A Sustainable Human Development perspective on crowdwork as a potential elevator of human capital.
Abstract
This study considers whether crowdwork can contribute to human-capital development from a Sustainable Human Development perspective. It identifies different kinds of skills acquired through crowdwork and traces how those skills develop as workers become more capable of using platforms and wider business opportunities.
Key findings
The study identifies domain, platform and business skills and shows how skills can develop through successive stages from reactive exploitation toward proactive expansion and transfer.
